Monday pick-me-up

I SAID YES!
Engagement 075

Seven years ago, I said “yes” to marrying Mr. Christopher Kennedy. It’s so crazy to believe it’s been that long ago. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Chris surprised me with a trip to visit his Gram K in Colorado for a catch-up weekend after he had spent the summer teaching English in Afghanistan. I had a hunch he would propose soon but I had no idea it would be on this trip or on our first hike. I mean, really, I would’ve worn make-up!

Engagement 054

Little did I know he had been making trips to Edmond discussing ring designs with a jeweler. Little did I know he carried that ring onto an airplane and had that ring stuffed in a tube sock in his backpack on the hike. You can tell a guy’s nervous when he hides an engagement ring in a tube sock. No doubt, I wouldn’t have looked in a backpack much less a tube sock. Funny thing is, I never suspected a thing. He could have been wearing it on his pinky. When he asked me to marry him, I guess I waited a bit too long to say “yes.” He’s never let me live that down. I was simply soaking in the moment when I realized I hadn’t answered his question . . . “Yes!”

Engagement 061

Thanks for accepting my “yes” and patiently loving me the last seven years. You will receive an extra jewel in your crown someday for taking such good care of me. Happy proposal–versary!!

  1. Awww! Thanks - I don't know about jewels, but I do know that there isn't anyone I'd rather be sharing my life with. Happy proposal-versary to you as well!
