Tomorrow marks a month since we said goodbye to our little one. Over the past four weeks, music has greatly ministered to my soul. And so, I thought I would share a song with you each week that has encouraged my heart and kept my focus on acceptance, hope and new beginnings – all founded in the person of Jesus Christ.
This first song was a surprise find. I pulled out my latest Michael W. Smith CD (my sis and I are big fans) because I knew it would have some great praise music. And much to my surprise, I stumbled across a song titled “Welcome Home.” It was written to honor the passing of a loved one that actually lived on earth but it spoke volumes to me concerning our little one – who although he never experienced life outside my womb is now experiencing life in Heaven with Jesus. I am quite confident our third child was indeed welcomed to his eternal home in a magnificent fashion.
Some poignant lyrics for me include – “I close my eyes. I can hear the sound as angels gather ‘round saying this is where you belong . . . welcome home.” Although, Chris and I will always wonder what life would have been like with our baby here on earth, I can rest assured in Christ’s goodness that heaven is the best place for our child . . . welcome home, sweet one, welcome home.
I can't believe that I'm here having to say goodbye.
And I can barely see you through these tears I cry.
I close my eyes.
I can hear the sound
As angels gather 'round
Saying this is where you belong
Welcome Home!
There are the days that my heart aches wishing you were here.
But I know where you are the hurt and the pain disappear.
There's no more tears.
I can hear the sound
As angels gather 'round
Saying this is where you belong
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home!
What a lovely sound
Angels all around
Saying this is where you belong
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home!
