Alexa’s 1st Christmas – Texas style
Call us crazy, but we threw caution to the wind and celebrated Christmases with both our families – mine in Texas and Chris’ in California. We spent two weeks away from home starting Dec. 19th through New Year’s Day. We probably won’t ever do that again as it was a logistical challenge for a “Type A” mommy and her nine-month-old but we were so grateful to spend quality time with both of our families – especially as this was Alexa’s 1st Christmas.
She was a trooper indeed! We counted it up and she slept in six different locations. We traveled by car and airplane to cover two different time zones. She met new cousins and friends, adapted to new schedules, and took it all in unbelievable stride. We thank the Lord for her adaptability with so many new people and surroundings. She slept like a champion and this made our travels quite delightful.
“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Here’s a glimpse of our time in Texas.
--Mom & Dad’s Christmas tree. We didn’t get our tree up this year (which made me so sad) so I enjoyed sitting by theirs while we were visiting. I love Christmas decorations and the traditions & memories behind each one.
A “cousin” pic in front of the tree on my family’s “Christmas Day.” We celebrated Dec. 21st (Rylen-10, Alexa-9-mos, Layton-7). You can’t see it but the logo on Alexa’s shirt says “Best Gift Ever.” We couldn’t agree more!
Ladies in red – Mom, Alexa, Kels & Hol. And no, we didn’t plan this.
Layton & Rylen showing off their new gifts and gift bag accessories. Nice look Layton!
Uncle Chris with a super fun OU platter from the kids – Boomer Sooner!!
Such a cute pic of my niece and nephew with their Nintendo DSi cases.
Mark with Chris’ gift to him – Wii Grand Slam Tennis. Hmmmm . . . I wonder who’ll be playing that later and I wonder who’s the Grand Slam Champion?
Alexa opening a gift from Mommy & Daddy – a Melissa & Doug wooden toy.
Tree gazing time with Pop. Alexa loves Christmas trees as much as her Mommy.
I see the camera Daddy but good try at hiding it from me.
Rylen helping Mimi and Pop make Nonie’s traditional cranberry salad – YUM!! She is grinding the cranberries and oranges by hand – crank, Rylen, crank!!
A festive table ready for Mimi’s delicious Christmas meal.
A close-up of the centerpiece Chris & the kids made out of toy puzzle pieces.
The Christmas Picture Drama
- All I wanted was one precious picture of Alexa in her Christmas dress in front of the Christmas tree. A simple request . . . right!? Take a look for yourselves.
Okay . . . maybe next year :)
Merry Christmas ya’ll!!
