Meet Me in St. Louis
Alexa was so excited to see her “airpane” pull up to our gate. She loved the airport and watching all the activity inside and out.
A week ago, Alexa and I took our first solo trip to visit one of my best friends, Brooke and her family in St. Louis. It was a much needed getaway and I’m so thankful for the time we had together. Being with Brooke is like being home. We don’t have to make any plans or even get out of our pajamas – we can just pick up where we left off. Brooke is an excellent cook so we generally ended up sitting at the kitchen table talking until the kiddos woke up from their naps. Or you’d find us discussing “deep” subjects while occasionally being interrupted by stacking blocks, throwing balls, or doing puzzles. I suppose a dynamic of our friendship has changed with two 1 1/2 yr olds running around – but we wouldn’t change the craziness for anything. It was such a blessing to be with a friend – who no matter how many miles we live apart - nothing really changes. Thank you for your hospitality, sweet friend. And most of all, thank you for such a precious friendship.
Unfortunately, I didn’t capture any pics of Brooke and me together. I did manage to get a few of Alexa & Whitman (or as Alexa called him – Whippen).
We flew Southwest, so Alexa was already standing at the correct place for her boarding assignment. Let’s go Mom!! (She also enjoyed using the posts to play peek-a-boo with a not-so-interested passenger waiting at the gate).
A sweet note and a beautiful bouquet to welcome the Kennedy girls to St. Louis.
Alexa and Whit enjoying a ride together to the mall. I think this may be the ONLY pic I captured of them both looking at the camera.
Whitman was quite smitten with Alexa. He loved to give her kisses and love pats. Alexa didn’t really know what to do with all the attention. It was so funny. Whitman called Alexa the “guh.” (girl)
Here’s the first pic of them holding hands just a year and two months prior.
The kiddos loved playing outside with the balls . . .
. . . and the bubbles! The weather was perfect.
Whit enjoyed putting rocks into his bucket which has now become one of Alexa’s favorite outdoor activities. It’s a much better idea than when she throws the rocks in our lawn.
Lil’ A loved to rock in Miss Brooke’s “southern” rocking chair on the front porch.
You gotta love that toothy, gummy grin when she says “cheese.”
One last shot of the two actually sitting together before we flew home.
Thanks again, Brooke!! I look forward to spending another special week with you sometime very soon!
